Young Ponce thrust the NBC Channel 5 News microphone into my face. Okay, not exactly. Holding the microphone respectfully in front of me, young Ponce asked me to describe the morning’s storm. College educated, a writer for god’s sake, an articulate and erudite soul who loves to craft words, all I could think about was the likelihood of food in my teeth, the need to powder my nose and how lots of people would be seeing this when I hadn’t even showered.
